Q&A

Q. Is HITS for beginners?

A. No, HITS is for the intermediate to advanced level player.

Q. How does Intermediate and Advanced correlate to Yankee VB Ratings, or outdoor doubles tournament player ratings?

A. These rating systems work marginally well at best for the tournaments offered, but not at all well when comparing the diverse capabilities of a large group. Your performance at HITS Tryouts determines program acceptance. Or not.

Q. What does Individual Skills mean?

A. We separate the Total Skill set for Power VB to Individual Skills and Team Skills. Team Skills refer to running a particular Offense, Defense and Hitter Coverage. Individual Skills refers to the six basic needs for Power VB: Hit, Set, Pass, Serve, Block and Read.

Q. Does HITS apply to Beach Doubles?

A. Yes, with Great Vigor.

Q. As an Advanced Player I am likely to compete in both indoor and outdoor 2's, 3's , 4's, and 6's tournaments. To which of these Power VB activities does HITS apply?

A. All of the above, with Great Vigor.

Q. I am new to the New England Region. Do you accept players not currently on any team?

A. Yes, and HITS is a great place to meet other players of similar capabilities. We do not form teams at HITS, but players do get together for "Yankee" tournaments and for outdoor doubles tournaments.

Q. Can I prepare for Nationals in your Advanced HITS Program?

A. Yes, we have many players preparing for Nationals in Advanced HITS, by banging and blocking against the big boys. If in doubt, come to HITS Tryouts, but come prepared to work hard for two solid hours.
